About Dr Thomas Tranah
Dr Tranah is a Consultant Hepatologist with extensive experience in digestive and liver diseases and endoscopy, specialising in chronic liver diseases with a particular interest in cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Dr Tranah qualified in medicine with distinction from University College London in 2010 and completed his specialist training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology in South London, working at major teaching hospitals and completing his advanced training in complex hepatology, transplantation and interventional endoscopy at King’s College Hospital. He has a strong academic background and was awarded a competitive MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship undertaking his PhD in Immunology at the Francis Crick Institute studying gut microbiome and immune interactions in chronic liver disease. Dr Tranah is an active researcher in the Hepatology field and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Tranah works in the NHS within the Institute of Liver Studies at King’s College Hospital, specialising in advanced chronic liver disease and transplant assessment and with a clinical interest in immunodeficiency in chronic liver disease. He is an experienced upper and lower GI endoscopist and JAG-accredited trainer. Dr Tranah is a member of the both the British and European Associations for the Study of the Liver.
