About Dr Sandeep Ankolekar

Dr Ankolekar is a highly experienced Consultant Neurologist and works full time at King’s College Hospital, London. He was the Clinical Lead for the Department of Stroke from 2018 to 2022. He has abundance of clinical experience in a wide variety of neurological diseases including headache, concussion, seizures, dizziness, disorders of sensation and neuromuscular function, memory and cognitive problems, movement disorders and stroke. His special interest areas include stroke, cerebrovascular disorders and memory problems. At King’s College Hospital, he participates in the Acute Neurology and tertiary Stroke Service rota providing care for patients with acute neurological conditions and stroke. He is part of the South East London and Kent regional neurovascular multidisciplinary team, and runs regular General Neurology clinics. General Stroke Clinics, Complex Cerebrovascular Disease Clinics and Sickle Cell Neurology clinics. His research interests include blood pressure and memory problems in stroke. Dr Ankolekar graduated from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India in 1997. He completed his neurology training from the Yorkshire Deanery in Leeds, and obtained his PhD in Stroke Medicine from the University of Nottingham. He has been a full time Consultant Neurologist since 2013 and was appointed at the King’s College Hospital in 2017.
