Mr Philip Mathew

Mr Mathew, who currently privately practices at The Wellington Hospital in London and Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brent Wood. He takes great care of his patients and believes in shared decision-making whilst guiding them to make the right decision for their treatment. He is a member of a whole host of established societies, such as the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, the European Wrist Arthroscopy Society, the Royal College of Surgeons, as well as the British Medical Association. These fellowships enhanced his understanding of hand and wrist pathology and helped him gain exposure to state of the art management options for a variety of wrist and hand pathology through working with some of the giants in hand and wrist surgery in the US, Spain, and France and India. His main area of expertise is WALANT ( wide awake local anaesthetic surgery without a tourniquet) and arthroscopic treatment options (key hole surgery) for wrist and hand pathology and specialist interest is mainly wrist and hand fractures and ligament injuries and instability. He is a reviewer of the Journal of Hand Surgery and an examiner for the British Diploma in Hand Surgery and Honorary Senior Lecturer, at Queen Mary’s University, London. He is married to a plastic surgeon and enjoys sketching and travelling and supports the charitable work of Medicines Sans Frontieres
