Dr Kalpita Majumdar Biography

I have been in my present post as a consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology since January 2015, prior to which I completed my training towards dual accreditation in General Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology, having trained across various parts of London including University College Hospitals. I have had regular annual appraisals with excellent feedback throughout and was last revalidated in June 2024. My clinical responsibilities include providing general diabetes and general endocrine clinics, and supervising trainees and diabetes specialist nurses in their respective lists. I undertake specialist clinics in diabetic foot disease (alongside a highly skilled podiatrist), insulin pumps, and diabetes clinics for young persons as well. I am proficient in diabetes technology, including the set up and use of glucose sensor technology, insulin pumps and incoming closed loop pump technology. Within my endocrine clinics, I regularly review and manage common endocrine conditions including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary pathology. I also review patients referred with secondary hypertension, metabolic stone disease, and metabolic syndrome. Apart from diabetes and endocrinology, I have dual accreditation in general internal medicine as well and contribute to medical consultant cover on the wards and the on-call general medical rota.
