About Mr Aminul Ahmed

I am an academic complex spine neurosurgeon, combining clinical excellence with innovative research. My clinical practice includes all aspects of complex spinal surgery such as back pain, neck pain, sciatica and disc problems, degenerative spinal disease, spinal tumours and spinal trauma. My approach to managing these conditions includes a full discussion, including all treatment option, and shared decision making. My surgical practice includes injections and surgeries using minimally invasive techniques and the use of technologies for safer surgery. My background includes academic surgical training including a PhD during medical school, two specialist complex spine fellowships in London and an international research fellowship in Miami. My research interests are in neurotrauma (both head injuries and spinal cord injuries) and the use of stem cell therapies and gene therapies as potential treatments. I have been awarded several prizes including the prestigious 'Arris and Gale Lectureship' from the Royal College of Surgeons. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and supervise PhD students in clinical and basic sciences research
