About Dr Amal Muthumala

Dr Amal Muthumala is a Consultant Cardiologist based at Barts Health NHS Trust (Barts Heart Centre) and North Middlesex Hospital. He gained his medical qualification (MB BChir) in 2001 from the University of Cambridge and worked in London before training in general cardiology at the Oxford deanery. Following that, he completed specialist fellowships in Complex Devices and Advanced Heart Failure in Calgary, Canada, and at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. He earned his MD (Res) in Cardiovascular Genetics from University College London in 2009 and became a certified cardiac device specialist in 2012. In 2014, he was awarded his CCT in cardiology. Dr Muthumala has previously been the Clinical Lead for Heart Failure at North Middlesex, and he is currently the Clinical Lead for Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy at Barts Heart Centre. He is a member of the British Heart Rhythm Society and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
